Wedding in Mill Valley, California
We just photographed a great wedding this weekend in Mill Valley, near Marin in Northern California at the Mill Valley Outdoor Art Club. Even with a bit of rain, we still had a blast and got some awesome pictures!
Megan and Christo were such a blast, and they were really good sports when some rain forced their wedding ceremony indoors.

Santa Barbara Portraits with the Richters!
I had a blast yesterday taking portraits of the Richter family. They were so adorable and each child had such a unique personality. It was so fun to capture each of them on film! Little Addy stole the day hamming it up in front of the camera.
We went to Chase Palm Park in Santa Barbara. I can’t tell you how many portrait sessions I have done there, lets just say there have been a ton! And Often as a children’s portrait photographer I can find myself getting into a rut sticking to what has worked in the past and producing the same images over and over again. But my heart’s desire really is to make every session unique, creative and visually stimulating. So I challenged myself this time to look for new backgrounds in an area that I was so familiar with; and I am so happy with the results!! Check them out below:

The Wedding Photographer Community Rocks!
Being part of the wedding photographer community is an amazing experience. There is no right or wrong way to exist in this industry, and there’s such an eclectic group of us that there’s always something new or different to see and learn.
I love how many awesome friends I’ve made, and especially in our little community of Santa Barbara, all the wedding photoraphers who come together and share and hang out, it’s great!
Yesterday I had the chance to photograph my good buddy Mark Kuroda! He was looking for some portraits of himself, and he asked me to cruise out and shoot for him. What a humbling experience! (It was nice though, because before the shoot, he gifted me with an LV wallet he picked up on the back streets of Hong Kong on a recent trip… let me tell you, that super stoked me out!!!)
I was inspired by my buddy Jose Villa for cropping… he’s always doing these crops into people’s faces, but he does it soooo smooth! I love.
Mark told me to “pose” him… so I told him to go a ways away and run… so I had him running at me, by me, across, and all over… props to Mark for doing all this in the sun, with a suit jacket on!
Things started to get a bit Jack Bauer ish, but it was great!

I’m now a holga wedding photographer
Yep, I have now crossed the line. I have photographed part of a wedding, as the primary photographer with a holga camera, and I LOVED it!!!
Jaime and Jeff were a blast to photograph. Jaime works for Fox Studios in the creative/design department, and she brought her own holga camera for me to play with at her wedding, already loaded with film. All I had to do was point it at her, and voila, beautiful pictures!
I only shot 1 roll of 12 exposures, but I’m super excited with what I got! I’m going to have to buy a holga to play with at my weddings this year. (for those who are not familiar with holga, this is a plastic/toy camera that shoots medium format film. This is not a professional camera. It has a plastic lens, and one shutter speed and one f-stop.)
Shopping at Costco…
When I shop at Costco, I always tell myself, ok, I’m going to spend about $100-$150… that’s it, that’s all I need. But… I’ve never once walked out of there spending anywhere near what I’d planned on. (Yes, I tend to lie to myself before walking into Costco…)
Yesterday we went to Costco to buy some stuff, planned on spending $150… Walked out $350 later…
So, I was shocked as we stood in line, and I looked to my left, and this lady had a shopping cart with ONE!!!! item in it, and not something I’m thinking she saved enough money on to merit a trip to Costco. It was a small bag of almonds. I couldn’t help but laugh, smile, giggle, wonder, and snap a quick picture.
