Amanda and Matt’s wedding was an absolute blast!!!

by Tim and Cheryl Halberg on June 30, 2007

Amanda Hill is no longer Amanda “Hill”… (this might make more sense to fellow current and former Brooks students)

I’ve known Amanda since the first day I started as a student at Brooks Istitute of Photography nearly 5 years ago… she had just started her then job as Student Advocate.

It was really special being able to take part in Amanda and Matt’s wedding at the Rincon Beach Club! Such a beautiful location, with a secret gate to the beach, and some really fun people!!!

I even got to snap a picture of Dave Litschel snapping a picture. (Litschel shoots sony)

A recurrent theme of the day was Amanda absolutely busting up laughing. ALWAYS a good sign!!! And it makes for some really fun pictures!!!

Looking for your opinion about my website!!!

by Tim and Cheryl Halberg on June 29, 2007

Alright guys/gals! I’m looking for everyone’s opinion (though I’ll give more weight to “non-photographer” types, I’d really like to get some of my past and future brides to commment)

We’re working on a new website. It should release in the next month, but I’m trying to figure out if everyone is really digging on the video slideshows in the galleries section, or if people would prefer to click through the pictures one-at-a-time?

I really like the video slideshows because I feel they help to capture the emotion and feel of each wedding individually, but I’d love to hear what you think!

Hanging with friends… (…)

by Tim and Cheryl Halberg on June 28, 2007

I love it when we are out and about shooting weddings and vacationing and we get to visit friends.

We were shooting a wedding in the Visalia/Seqioa National Park area and took a trip through Fresno (on our way to visit my folks in the Central Valley). I called my good buddy Stebo up and got to hang out with him for a few minutes. I know Steven through church and school and haven’t seen him in ages! But, being the true photo-nerds that we are, we headed to downtown Fresno to see what we could come up with by pushing the button on a camera repeatedly.

Lifestyle family portraits!

by Cheryl on June 25, 2007

What a whirlwind June has been for me! I can’t believe it is almost gone! And we are practically half way trough 2007!

From being sick for nearly 10 days, to photographing my brother’s wedding, visiting with family and managing a ton of children’s portrait sessions my blog has definitely suffered! But I am back and here is a recent family portrait session I have done:

I had such a blast photographing these guys! You can check out all the fun things we did here

Learning from other wedding photographers is sooo awesome!!!!

by Tim and Cheryl Halberg on June 20, 2007

I just wanted to take a moment to get a little mushy on my blog and share about how awesome the community of wedding photographers can be! I’ve got a great list of awesome wedding photographers who have helped mentor us and give advice when need be, and I’m always amazed at how open and ready to share all of their “secrets to success” these guys are!!!

Not that a short list does it justice, but some of these guys include: David Jay, Michael and Anna Costa, Jose Villa (who’s doing a workshop here shortly, see details below), Melissa Musgrove, Mike Larson, Shaun Austin, Brody Dezember and David and Franky Salomone. Seriously, these are some of the best of the best, and they’ve all been such an awesome influence in my business and in constantly offering a helping hand, not to mention just being awesome and fun friends and AMAZING photographers!!!

I’m super stoked for my buddy Jose Villa who is holding his first ever workshop/seminar for photographers!!! Jose is a super awesome/talented photographer (sponsored by Fuji Film – YES, he’s a film shooter) ;-) and I love the guy to pieces!! He’s so down to earth and ready to share! I remember when I first moved to Santa Barbara and heard about him, I thought he was a total “untouchable!” (I told him this one day and he says he’s heard it before and has NO clue why people think of him that way)

You can check out a ton of info about Jose’s workshop by clicking here, or typing josevillaworkshops.com into your browser!

I know they’ve put a cap on the number of photographers who can attend, so if you’re interested, I’d HIGHLY suggest getting signed up ASAP!!!!

Not only will Jose Villa himself be sharing his knowledge/skills, but he also has two AWESOME guests who will be presenting with him: Jesh de Rox and
