The Wedding Photographer Hair Cut….
When I first started getting into wedding photography I was sooooooo sure there was an exact image I needed to project, and that I needed to start aligning myself with that image. I bought an Audi A4 (now that’s a fun car…) started dressing nicer (I shoulda been doing this anyway) and worried about my hair.
I’ve finally come to realize that there’s nothing wrong with being myself and projecting that in my business, and I LOVE it!
So, when I got my hair cut yesterday I told my stylist to go wild and make the highlights stand out!!! Let’s just say, she didn’t fall short on the highlights standing out!!!!
My question to anyone who’s reading this post is, look at the picture, and tell me, should I add some brown/light blonde dye into my hair to make it more stylish/exciting, or just go with the yellowish gold over the entire top of my dome?
Holy Grail of natural light photography lenses
Yes, there is ONE lens that I believe if I were to dangle in front of my photography buddies over any other lens, they would fight for this!
I’ve never found one for sale before, but from what I can see, Samy’s Camera actually has “several” of these available!
I won’t be buying one soon because I already have a lens that’s only 2/3 of a stop slower… but, if I had an extra $4,750 sitting around, I might just jump at this. For any of you photo dweebs/friends of mine who are interested, here’s the link to where you can buy your very own 50 1.0 lens!!
April and Don’s Garre Winery/Martinelli Center Wedding
Cheryl and I had a blast shooting with April and Don today!
After driving up yesterday and enjoying an amazing dinner at Wente Vineyard and Winery we were really excited for today’s wedding at the Garre Winery/Martinelli Center.

Awesome dinner at Wente Vineyards, Livermore, CA
Cheryl and I enjoyed an AWESOME dinner tonight in Livermore, Califorinia at the Wente Vineyards Restaurant. (There was even a wedding going on with live music while we were on the patio eating.)
We’re up here to shoot April and Don’s wedding at the Garre Winery and Vineyard tomorrow.
We started with a very interesting appetizer:
Tempura Battered Baia Nicchia Squash Blossom (literally this is the blossom from the
Santa Barbara’s fire makes for an amazing sunset!!
Today the smoke from the nearby fire started blowing over Santa Barbara and was dropping TONS of ash!!! It was insane.. It was coming through our sky light vent and was all over my desk. But I didn’t let that get me down, because it also made for a VERY LONG “golden hour.” Usually that’s an hour after sunrise and an hour before sunset. The “prettiest” light of the day.
We were commissioned to do a family portrait of 18 people as a surprise gift for the grandma. With portraits I never really know what the personality of the family is going to be until we get there. With weddings I know ahead of time because we do engagement shoots. Well, boy was I super excited when I saw the personality of this family!!! Sooo much fun!!
These are just a few quick pictures nearly straight outta the camera. Sorry I didn’t get a chance to process them much.
