Riding the Flume Trail – Lake Tahoe

by Tim and Cheryl Halberg on August 31, 2008

In catching up on our recent weddings I just realized I need to add some photos of our trip up to Lake Tahoe to photograph another wedding (pictures coming shortly)

My buddy and fellow wedding photographer Doug Miranda took me for a ride on one of the famous trails in Tahoe, the Flume Trail. It was a blast getting out riding, but wow… that elevation and me not being in the best of shape sure made the first 3 miles of climbing a bit tougher for me than it should have been, but wow, was the climb ever worth the views we got!!!

I borrowed all of these pictures from Doug’s blog, so make sure to cruise over to his site and give him some love.

And of course, as I’m riding I feel like it’s only getting tougher and tougher until Doug points out that my back tire is flat (being new to full suspension, sometimes I don’t notice these things for a while….!)

Charles and Krista’s Southern California Wedding

by Tim and Cheryl Halberg on August 31, 2008

Big thanks to my buddy Doug Miranda (who’s also an awesome wedding photographer) for referring Charles and Krista to us for their wedding photography. We had a blast with these guys and as always, the weather at their Southern California wedding was perfect for photography!

Todd and Paige’s Newbury Park Wedding Photos

by Tim and Cheryl Halberg on August 28, 2008

I think the phrase goes “better late than never” and that’s my theory on trying to catch up on all the weddings I haven’t had time to blog about recently. I believe I’m 5 or 6 weddings behind, so here goes the first of several posts.

Todd and Paige got married at a beautiful private estate in the hills of Newbury Park backing up to the Malibu Mountains. Paige’s date is a custom home builder and builds BEAUTIFUL homes. (I hope one day I can find a way to convince him to build one for me in trade for photoraphy) ;-) This home is one that Paige’s dad is just completing.

You can check out Todd and Paige’s slideshow of images here.

Wedding Photographer Workshop in Manhattan New York this October

by Tim and Cheryl Halberg on August 21, 2008

I know there are quite a few photographers who follow this blog, so this post is for you.

If you’re looking for a good bit of inspiration as well as some AWESOME insight into business, you owe it to yourself to check out Jason Groupp and Gene Higa’s workshop (check out some more info about their wedding photography workshop here)

Jason Groupp is a SICK and crazy successful photog from Manhattan – New York! (yeah, he’s the legit thing) and Gene Higa is an amazing destination wedding photographer from San Francisco. (recently voted as one of the world’s top 10 wedding photographers – again, you could say he’s legit!)

Two stellar photogs coming together to present how they make their businesses work and then also a chance to go out with them to shoot around New York City! Seriously, if you are considering going to a workshop this year, or even if you aren’t, you should definitely make the effort to get out to this event! (not to mention I hear rumors of a SWEET party at Jason’s studio that you would likely be able to get VIP treatment to! – honestly, that’d be worth it all on it’s own, rubbing shoulders with the who’s who of weddings)

Ok, seriously, I’m not trying to hype this up, I truly respect both of these photographers as artists and businessmen. Definitely check out all the details on Jason’s blog.

Oh… and because you all like pictures, here’s a sweet pic of Jason (he’s ALWAYS smiling!) (I didn’t shoot this, found it on his blog)

Dancing around the world

by Tim and Cheryl Halberg on August 20, 2008

Wow… just found this video through Jeremy Cowart’s blog.

I always have it in my head that I want to travel, but find myself finding excuses of why I can’t, my buddy Mark is always trying to tell me I just need to up and do it… and I think this video is the most inspiring thing I’ve seen recently that gives me the traveling bug:
