Chris and Brianna’s Carpinteria and Santa Barbara Wedding

by Tim and Cheryl Halberg on January 31, 2009

I’ve been lagging on posting up weddings recently, so I thought I’d come out strong with a wedding that we absolutely NAILED! (It didn’t hurt that Chris and Brianna are both absolutely beautiful people who are crazy in love and amazingly expressive)

I’m HUGE on capturing emotion and Chris and Brianna were not lacking for a second on that. Chris is so expressive and these two were just smiling all day. So much love and passion, this is seriously what I live for in my photography.

Chris is a really amazing photogapher himself and it was a huge compliment when he asked me to photograph his wedding. (he’s one of four photographer’s weddings we’ll be shooting this year!) And Chris is actually on staff full-time at our church Reality Carpinteria.

Warning… I believe this is the most pictures we’ve ever posted in one blog post…

My camera was “borrowed” by my friends at the table to capture a shot or two of Paul and Jen:

The boys decided Chris needed a quick experience with a Hora style dance… nobody was hurt during this scene (though I can’t say the chair did well)

I think at this point Chris might have been having second thoughts

Yeah… I cut off his head, but seriously, he got some air!!!

These last two images are just because I’m a total camera/photo nerd. I was shooting a 24mm prime lens at 1.4 and shot five quick frames trying to get just a bubble in focus, I did it:

And then I just cropped into 100% on that frame and because my camera has such awesome resolution at 21 megapixels that you can see people in detail as well as my lens in the center of the bubble… (I’m probably the only person who thinks this is remotely cool…)

Chris and Brianna had their reception at the same location as Cheryl and I did for our wedding, the Stella Mare’s Event Center. (always serving up delicious food and a great location)

Santa Barbara Tea Fire Family Portraits – Groff Family

by Tim and Cheryl Halberg on January 23, 2009

We recently announced on our blog and started spreading the word that we wanted to offer free photography to any families who were effected by the Tea Fire here in Santa Barbara. This is still something we are continuing to offer and hope we can help more families to start to build their photographic memories again with.

Gerry and Marian Groff contacted us shortly about the first post on our blog about this and asked if we could do a portrait session for them. Their home burned down during the Tea Fire and Marian’s memories from attending Westmont college led us to the campus for their photos.

The Groffs had lived in their beautiful home for 46 years… when we asked them what they grabbed on their way out the door, Marian told us she grabbed her sewing machine, she said it was sort of an instinct because of a fire many years back in the area had hit and at the time her sewing machine was brand new and it was the first thing she grabbed then, so she naturally grabbed it this time as well.

We had an absolute blast photographing these two and it was amazing how much joy they still have in their marriage. I often wonder what it will be like when I get older and am married, and these two truly gave Cheryl and I a TON of hope for the future and growing older together. I can only hope we smile around each other half as much as these two do!

If you know of anyone from Santa Barbara who was effected by the Tea Fire please let them know that we would love to bless them with a FREE portrait session. This free session includes free prints, a free album donated by our friends at KISS Wedding Books, and all of the images on disk. We truly would love to bless as many of these families as possible with the ability to start a new photography collection for their family memories.

Tons of engagement shoots to come from Santa Barbara

by Tim and Cheryl Halberg on January 22, 2009

We’ve been shooting a bunch of engagement shoots as well as weddings around Santa Barbara, and next week I’m headed up to Sacramento for a shoot for my good buddy and fellow photographer Doug Miranda.

Here’s a few quick shots from Chris and Elizabeth’s recent engagement session here in Santa Barbara on the beach.

These two are getting married locally in July and we’re excited to be a part of their wedding. Elizabeth not only shares the name of my sister, but she has to be one of the sweetest brides who’s asked me to photograph their weddings and there was just no way I could say no.

Kiss Wedding Books Videos!!! (check it) (umm… lawsuit?)

by Tim and Cheryl Halberg on January 15, 2009

wow… didn’t realize they weren’t joking about this stuff being internal only:

KISS Wedding Books

hmm…..

I recently had the chance to cruise down and visit my friends Kevin and Shaun who run Kiss Wedding Books. I got to spend a couple of days tooling around with them and watching the behind the scenes goodies they were working on.

One big thing they’ve done is come up with an awesome new way of packaging their already awesome and beautiful books! Check out a few sneak peaks in these videos (and you might catch a glimpse of me as well):

Rumor has it there might be some even more epic tests of their new packaging to see just how strong this stuff is.

Be on the lookout for a new wedding being posted as well as lots of new photos. I’ve taken the Holidays off to relax and now it’s time for some fun catching up!

New Business: Photo Booth Santa Barbara

by Tim and Cheryl Halberg on January 8, 2009

I’m soooo excited for this new year! A huge change for me this year is that I’ve started two new businesses. Both with my good friend and fellow photographer Ricky Mia.

The first company we started is called FotoCielo. Basically, we both have really successful and busy wedding photography businesses and we’re constantly having to turn brides away, so we decided we wanted to be able to serve more brides and with the creation of FotoCielo and our team of 4 awesome photographers we’ve been able to do this.

Secondly, we started Photo Booth Santa Barbara (sorry… just couldn’t come up with a more original name.) But really, this is a SUPER fun business/option for our couples.

We’ve seen a few photo booths here and there at weddings, but were never truly impressed with them. They were fun, but just didn’t give the same feel we remembered from our days growing up in the mall and hoping into a booth for a fun picture.

Well, we combined our passion for fun photo booths and came up with an AWESOME booth that you can fit a ton of people in and go nuts.

Check out this slideshow from our release of the photobooth at the Santa Barbara Bridal Expo this past weekend:

Definitely check out the site to see some photos of the booth! Seriously the coolest party/wedding favor that gives something to your guests and is an absolute blast!
